Ok, so who would have thought that I would ever own a fancy pen, much less a Montblanc fountain pen? No, not I. But, this weekend, I was presented with one, and my first impression was, wow, you would think with a box this big (the thing came in a rather substantial box) the darn fountain pen would come with a bonus something. I dunno, a watch maybe?
Anyway, the thing is heavy. And when I first started to write with it, I ripped the paper. LOL! Ok, easy does it, I guess. Where is the instruction book? I look in the box, no such luck. Just padding and fancy cloth inside. This is embarrassing. You see, the writing implement is this pointed, shapely metal that's called the nib, I guess. Unlike a regular pen, which you can pretty much hold any way you want, the Montblanc fountain pen must be oriented in a certain way before you start writing, I believe. Fail to do that, and you end up with ripped paper. At least that is what happened in my case. Oh well.
So I looked around the internet to see if anyone has anything to say about the Montblanc fountain pen. Was looking for a story, history, whatever that would tell me something about this pen. Maybe even how to use it. Still looking, actually. When I find more about this fountain pen, I will update here. I'll check with a friend, as I think he got one for graduation last year. If he also has a fountain pen, maybe he has already gone through the ripping the paper stage. If so, he can tell me how to properly write with this thing. Would be a shame to have to relegate this pen to the display case. Me and my fancy schmancy Montblanc will report back soon.
So, Ok, quick update. In this
blog, someone has written about Montblanc. The
Montblanc fountain pen is also covered in another blog, and it has a picture and additional resources if you are interested. Enjoy.
